Thank you to everyone who joined the Wasatch Democratic Women's Dinner Series on February 9th. We are especially grateful to the community representatives from Utah Open Lands, Friends of Midway, and Friends of Heber Valley who shared thoughtful and informative presentations about the proposed Heber Bypass.

As we discussed, this project will have a significant and lasting impact on our community. UDOT has identified Alternative B as the preferred route. Because this decision will shape the future of the Heber Valley, it is vital that our community remains actively engaged in the public comment process.

At this stage, it is especially important that comments focus on substantive issues — including legal compliance, adherence to state and federal code, environmental impacts, fiscal responsibility, eminent domain concerns, mitigation requirements, and any overlooked data or impacts. Well-supported, fact-based comments that cite relevant statutes, planning requirements, and environmental considerations are far more likely to be taken seriously. Personal experiences are also valuable when connected to these broader concerns.

Attached you will find:

  • Sample letters you may personalize and submit to UDOT

  • Relevant Utah and federal codes and statutes that may be helpful to reference

  • Guidance on how to frame comments for maximum effectiveness

We encourage you to submit your comments directly to UDOT and to consider sharing which topic you addressed so we can better understand where community voices are being focused.

Thank you for your continued advocacy, engagement, and commitment to protecting the future of our valley.
